Fossil Fuels Won’t Fuel Our Future
The Cayman Islands, along with many other islands in the Caribbean, have had a long history of using fossil fuels as their main source of energy. Especially in the Cayman Islands, where we have one of the highest carbon emissions per capita in the world, 3% of the energy we use comes from renewable sources.
Recently, the Cayman Islands government has developed the new National Energy Policy (NEP), a set of ideas that could potentially serve as an example to other Caribbean Islands.
In cooperation with one of the global movements to write letters to government officials, asking for change, POF has taken up the act and prepared over 100 letters to present to the government. View some of these letters here.
